Sunday, Day One: Dijon

Board the barge at Dijon’s Port du Canal for your cruise through Burgundy.  A champagne reception welcomes you on board and gives you a chance to meet the crew. Later this evening, experience your first dinner on board.

Monday, Day Two: Cruise to Longecourt.  Visit Clos du Vougeot and Wine tasting in Gevrey Chambertain

This morning we cruise out of Dijon and enjoy a gentle cruise down the Burgundy canal to the small town of Longecourt. After lunch we drive down the famous Route des Grands Crus, passing through the villages of the Cote D’Or. A stop in Vougeot allows us to visit the celebrated Clos de Vougeot vineyard and Chateau where the Cistercian monks first started making wine in the 12th century. The medieval chateau still contains the ancient presses and is now the headquarters of the renowned Burgundian wine society, the Confrerie de Chevaliers de Tastevin. After visiting the chateau enjoy a private wine tasting at a renowned domaine in Gevrey Chambertain before returning to the barge for dinner.

Tuesday, Day Three: Cruise to St. Jean de Losne. Morning Visit to Dijon

After breakfast, we drive to Dijon. Enjoy a walking tour of historic Dijon including a visit to the market, the Ducal Palace, seat of the great medieval dukes of Burgundy and enjoy a mustard tasting hosted at the Edmond Fallot mustard boutique.  There will be some free time for shopping or perhaps, to sit in one of the numerous pavement cafés and simply watch the world pass by.  Return to the boat for lunch and an afternoon cruise to St. Jean de Losne, the barging capital of France. Take some time after dinner or early tomorrow morning to stroll around the port and see the many working and pleasure barges.

Wednesday, Day Four: Cruise to Fragnes.

Today the barge cruises down the broad majestic Saone River. Enjoy lunch on board before entering the Canal du Centre through the impressive Crissey lock, over 10 meters deep and experience the first stretch of the beautiful winding canal up to the mooring in the pretty village of Fragnes. After lunch we take a short ride to visit the town of Beaune, the wine capital of burgundy. Here we enjoy a private visit to the cellars of Joseph Drouhin which run under the town and belonged to the church and the dukes of Burgundy. We will have time to shop in this charming town and visit the 15th century Hotel Dieu otherwise known as the Hospices de Beaune, a splendidly decorated charity hospital which represents both the history of Burgundy and the story of its wines. Rejoin the barge for dinner.

Thursday, Day Five: Cruise to Chagny.

Relax this morning as the barge begins a beautiful cruise along the canal du centre. Back in the canal environment you may disembark the barge at a lock, bicycle alongside or walk and keep up with the pace of the barge. Lunch will be eaten out at the Michelin rated restaurant, Le Montrachet, in Puligny Montrachet. This afternoon enjoy a visit to the lovely riverside town of Chalon sur Saone with its magnificent cathedral square and half-timbered buildings followed by a tour of the cellars and wine tasting at Chateau de Pommard. Dinner is served on board.

Friday, Day Six: Cruise to St. Léger sur Dheune. Visit the Chateau de Rully.

This morning we cruise gently on to the final destination in the pretty village of St Leger sur Dheune passing along the way the vineyards of Santenay, the most southern vineyards of the Cote de Beaune, This afternoon we take a short ride in the bus to the wine village of Rully to the Chateau of Rully set amidst the stunning views over the vineyards. Here you will enjoy a private visit by the count who will show you around this magnificent 12th century feudal chateau and his collection of furnishing some as far back as the 16th century. Back on the barge, chef is preparing your farewell Gala dinner.

Saturday, Day Seven: St Leger sur Dheune

After breakfast the crew bids you farewell before you disembark the barge for your onward travel arrangements.
